Enzo Maresca has made it clear - Cole Palmer must rediscover his early-season form as Chelsea push for a Champions League spot.
Palmer, 22, has been a standout performer for the Blues this season tallying 14 goals and six assists in 27 league appearances. However, a recent dip in form with no goals in his last seven matches, has coincided with Chelsea's offensive struggles.
Despite this, Maresca remains confident in Palmer's abilities. The Chelsea manager has emphasised the importance of consistency stating "We need more consistency from our key players. The standards are high - and they have to be."
Maresca also highlighted the challenges Palmer faces with increased attention from opponents.
"The next step forward for Cole is to get used to playing with that sort of situation. Sometimes you can see he gets a little frustrated, because it's not easy to have 90, 95 minutes being man marked. But players of that level get used to it."
Palmer's journey from Manchester City's academy to a key player at Chelsea has been remarkable. Since his transfer in 2023, he has become integral to Maresca's plans and secured a contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2033.
As Chelsea enters a critical phase of the season, Maresca's message is clear that Palmer must rise to the occasion.
